THE GREATEST GIFT

This greatest gift, Jesus, didn’t come just to be admired in a nativity scene – He came to rescue us. But rescue us from what?

The Bible teaches we have all rebelled against God. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin leads to death. “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). God’s just judgement on sin is not only physical death but eternal death; eternal separation from God and His goodness. But God, in His love, gave us the greatest gift – the only One who could rescue us from this dreadful separation.

God sent Jesus to live the perfect life we could never live; to die in our place, and to take the punishment our sins deserve. What a great gift!

Through His sacrifice, we can be forgiven and reconciled to God. “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

This Christmas, unwrap this Gift of rescue. It’s not earned by good works or religious rituals. It’s for all who turn from their sin, and by faith receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord.

Will you receive Him today?

We warmly invite you to join us for our Christmas Service, Sunday 21 December 10am.
