This past Saturday, the BBCQ ladies treated the men to a magnificent English Breakfast with the works, and after the men had feasted they turned their focus to consider being a man. What does it mean, what does it look like, how do you do it, and all this in the light of Scripture.
Our Pastor’s text was 1Cor 16:13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
We then considered the context and application of this with many other scripture references, and saw something of the template in God’s Word for manhood. We concluded that there is much opposition all around us today, to living a life that is consistent with God’s plan and purpose for masculinity, but God’s plan is the ultimate for our good and His glory.
The popular social thought of manhood has become very toxic and has emasculated men to the point of them being too fearful to lead or to assert righteousness in our workplace, community, and government. Even at the most foundational level in the home to be a husband, father, and leader.
We didn’t solve the problems of the world and reset the fractured pieces, but we did engage in thoughtful discussion, with honesty and integrity, which was very helpful to realign and reinvigorate our focus and provide necessary challenge.
